Q. 1. I already do implants and have done so for years. How will this
course benefit me?
Answer: Some doctors have a vast amount of knowledge
and experience. Even with extensive experience, The Pacific Implant
Institute will expose you to the most advanced concepts of treatment
planning, bone grafting, & implant surgery to ensure that your
treatment plans will be optimally realized. One-on-one hands-on surgical
training by recognized experts in the field will provide refinements
for even the more experienced clinicians.
Q. 2. How do the credits work?
Answer: You get 120 CE points from the CDSBC and from the AGD.
Q. 3. There is an Orthopaedic Engineering and Treatment Planning course
in both the Prosthetics course and the Surgery course. Are those courses
the same and am I required to take both?
Answer: The Orthopaedic Engineering and Treatment Planning course is
the initial 3-day session for both the Implant Surgical and Implant
Prosthodontics programs and they are the same. You will note that the
date for that course under each program is the same. That course can
also be taken separately, and thereafter, you can enter either program
without repeating that session. The interest in having this phase of
each program available more than once per year has been noted.
Q. 4. What can I do within my practice that I dont do know after I
complete the Orthopaedic Engineering and Treatment Planning course?
Answer: One of the greatest concerns in implant dentistry is the rate
of failure due, in part, to partial treatment and/or the inexperience
of the practitioner in knowing when to allow such treatment. Minimally,
this course will give you the knowledge and rationale of treatment
planning cases for the long-term survival of implant supported restorations.
Q. 5. What if I cannot commit to completing the course within the
12 months?
Answer: That is not a problem; courses can be taken over several years,
depending on your schedule. You can even limit your training to one
phase of implant dentistry. Should you decide to increase your training,
you can do so at your convenience years later.
Q. 6. If I choose to do only one of the two courses (Surgery or Prosthetics),
which would bring me the most benefit and why?
Answer: Unless your practice is limited to surgery, the best choice
would be Implant Prosthodontics. Understanding the prosthetics phase
is the foundation of practicing implant dentistry at the highest level.
Even for surgeons the Implant Prosthodontics program will substantially
increase their foundation for the treatment decisions that are made
in surgery.
