Oral Implantology: Science and Treatment Planning

This course is part of these programs:

» Basic Implant Prosthodontics
» Basic Oral Implantology
» Oral Implantology: Science and Treatment Planning
» Masters Program in Oral Implantology

Understanding the science of Oral Implantology, the predictable procedures, and the potential to serve your patients is “key” for the whole office team. The dental practice that is serious about incorporating oral implantology into their list of patient services will expect all of their team members to understand this field and be able to assist their patient in finding the proper professional course of treatment. For such an expensive series of procedures, any team member who is not an effective and enthusiastic supporter of this type of care becomes an unwitting opponent. Your dental teams’ understanding and support essential to your success. This course is the beginning of your successful implant dentistry practice.

This course is the initial session for both the Prosthetics program and the Surgery program. It is also a standalone program for those doctors and dental teams wishing to understand the principles of implant dentistry without having to go through the advanced clinical training. This course gives doctors an understanding of what implant dentistry is capable of achieving, as well as how to evaluate the quality of the surgical and prosthetic results for their patients. Current science and research is used to build the foundation by which you will make clinical choices in both surgery and prosthetic phases of treatment.

Since long-term implant supported prosthetics has a direct correlation with optimal management of occlusal forces and the degree to which those forces are magnified by the prosthetics, the biomechanical sciences and their application are extensively reviewed.

Long-term implant supported prosthetics is also related to the ability of the dental practice to maintain and prevent problems after the final prostheses is delivered. Differences between the maintenance of natural teeth and implant teeth are examined as well as the differences in their maintenance protocols.
