This course is part of these programs:
» Masters Program in Oral Implantology
» Advanced Implant Surgery
Advanced Series:
This advanced series program is designed for the dentist with a strong background in Oral Implantology, or has taken the Pacific Institute’s Basic Surgical Series. Each of these courses brings a stronger surgical skill set to your practice. However, the full complement of these courses will provide the clinician with knowledge and skills to manage almost all surgical cases that present for treatment in today’s dental practice.
In addition to the specific clinical procedures, a strong emphasis will be placed on understanding healing complications for all procedures and techniques to successfully manage those complications.
Applied Head & Neck Anatomy:
The relationships of anatomical structures and their physiological activities are frequently forgotten as one enters their clinical training and professional careers. Learning the anatomical relationships of body structures is introduced in the lecture theatre but confirmed in the dissection laboratory.
A postgraduate review of Anatomy almost always reveals to the practicing dentist how much anatomical information they have stored in their less than readily inaccessible subconscious memory. A concise and visually focused review of important anatomical structures and their 3-dimentional relationships in the body gives one a sense of confidence that they do know a great deal more anatomy than they think they know.
Our course in Head and Neck Anatomy is designed to give you a comprehensive review of the structures that are important to today’s practicing dentists. A series of lectures on the structure and function of hard and soft tissues, nerves, organs and facial spaces precede laboratory sessions where clinical dissection can be preformed and prosected Head and Neck specimens can be reviewed. Experience has revealed that clinicians who have thought they have forgotten much of the anatomical knowledge are pleasantly surprised and rewarded by their sense of knowledge following such a course.
Objectives:
To provide didactic in depth review head and neck anatomy with specific reference to oral implantology procedures and potential complications
To provide a hands-on dissection laboratory on cadaver material to compliment the head and neck anatomy lectures

To understand facial planes and their influence on the spread of infection
To identify vital structures and their relationship to the areas of treatment
To give the participants the opportunity to practice surgical procedures including:
