Advanced Series:
This advanced series program is designed for the dentist with a strong background in Oral Implantology, or has taken the Pacific Institute’s Basic Surgical Series. Each of these courses brings a stronger surgical skill set to your practice. However, the full complement of these courses will provide the clinician with knowledge and skills to manage almost all surgical cases that present for treatment in today’s dental practice.
In addition to the specific clinical procedures, a strong emphasis will be placed on understanding healing complications for all procedures and techniques to successfully manage those complications.
Perioplastic Surgery:
This program is designed for the dentist with experience in surgery. Rationale for treatment and refinement of surgical techniques and skills will be addressed as will specific topics related to gingival management for health and cosmetics for natural and implant retained restorations.
Attention to specific areas of value including criteria for success in basic surgical procedures as well as connective tissue grafts, gingival augmentation, gingival sculpting, and papillae management.
Objectives:
To understand the rationale of use and the clinical procedures for the advanced management of surgical procedures including:
• Wound healing
• Surgical incisions
• Manipulation of soft tissues
• Incision line closure and suturing
• Soft tissue management for optimal esthetics
To understand the surgical requirements for and receive hands-on clinical instruction for basic tissue manipulation and closure
To provide a surgical demonstration
